woohoo! progress!

Things are slowly starting to come together... at a reasonably quick rate too! I'm sort of shocked at how quickly things seem to be happening now. We've got the date set, we've met with a caterer we like, we've found a baker to make the cake, we have an officiant, I've got my dress, veil, fascinator and I've ordered my jewelry, Chris has his suit, we've found our DJ, I've been in touch with a wedding coordinator to bounce some ideas off her and figure out how to cut the budget further, we're getting our guest list finalized, I've decided what flowers I want, figured out the centerpieces & ceremony decor, and now I pretty much just need to buy our rings, find a limo company, a florist, photographer & perhaps a videographer. The bridal party also need to get their outfits sorted. The rest is pretty much miscellaneous extras- decorations, apparel accessories, cosmetic stuff, and lots of DIY projects!

However, I'm wondering if I'm going to end up burning myself out on DIY projects. I had the brilliant idea last week to make tissue paper flowers and build 2 topiaries out of them. It seems simple enough right? Geez, how wrong I was! I've been working on it for a week now and I'm only half way through the first 5-inch sphere. I can't sit and do anymore than 5-10 flowers at a time without my head absolutely pounding! At this rate, it's going to take me months to get them done! I also need to find some pretty vellum paper to cover the cylindrical votive cups I bought and I need to spray paint the bubble cups.

I've been arguing with my mother over using table runners however. The tables are long, rectangular tables and I feel that they're a little too sparse with just the centerpieces (a row of various sized bud vases with one flower in each vase, plus the votives dotted around between the vases- the vases will be given away as favors at the end of the night) and I'd really like to incorporate more blue onto the tables since we're using white flowers- what's a more perfect way than using a table runner? I'd especially like to use one that has a modern/contemporary design on it, and I'm throwing around the idea of using wallpaper for the runners as a cheap alternative to the fabric ones that cost like $15 each! She thinks I've lost my mind and I should stick with a solid navy satin one instead. I'm trying to point out to her that it's not as though we're having a million tables- only a few for people to sit and rest at, or to eat at since we're going for a cocktail reception and the tall cocktail tables will have blue linens on them with very simple centerpieces.

hm.. we've still got a long way to go however!
